Among the types of psoriasis mentioned above, plague psoriasis is the most
common. Signs and symptoms of psoriasis defer depending on what a person has but generally include one of
more of the signs and symptoms.
- Nail Psoriasis affects the finger nails and toe nails. One of the symptoms of nail
psoriasis is discoloration and pitting of the nails. In many cases, this causes the nails to loosen and will
eventually detach from the nail bed. In more severe cases, nails may crumble.
- Psoriatic Arthritis affects the nails and joints causing the nails to become pitted and
discolored. Joints can become swollen and painful that's similar to that of arthritis.

Plague Psoriasis is a common type of psoriasis where the
inflamed skin is red and covered with silvery scales. Circular to oval-shaped red plaques or patches
are usually found on the arms, legs, trunk or scalp.

Sometimes these red patches crack and bleed. Environmental factors such as smoking, sun exposure, alcohol
may affect how often psoriasis occurs and how long the flare-up lasts.
- Inverse Psoriasis is common with oversized people and it is worsened by sweating and
friction. It is the kind that mainly affects the skin in your groin, armpits, around the genitals and under the
breasts.
- Erythrodermic Psoriasis is usually triggered by severe sunburn and is the least common
type of psoriasis. Reddening and exfoliation of the skin are often accompanied by severe itching and pain.
Sometimes swelling also develop
- Guttate Psoriasis is common among people below 30 years of age. It is marked by the water
droplet sores on the scalps, body, hands and legs. Usually Streptococcal bacteria infection is the trigger to
Guttate Psoriasis and lesions usually appears on the skin 2-3 weeks after infection.
- Scalp Psoriasis is characterized by redness along the hairline. Psoriasis on the scalp can
be itchy with silvery white scales around the ears and on the scalp. Flakes are noticeable in your hair or
shoulders, especially after scratching your scalp.
- Pustular Psoriasis is a rare type of psoriasis that occurs in widespread patches or in
smaller areas in your hands, feet or fingertips. Generalized pustular psoriasis may causes fever, chills,
severe itching, weight loss and fatigue. This type of psoriasis can be triggered by medications, sunlight,
infections, pregnancy, perspiration, emotional stress, or exposure to a certain chemical.
